Eugenie Torgerson
Eugenie Torgerson captures the subtleties of Midwest and Great Plains landscapes in her pastels. Her palette is subdued but the mood of her pieces is filled with intensity, often due to the depth of the skies she creates.
In her artist's statement, Eugenie writes: "I am interested in the energy of air and the weight of the land, paying particular attention to the place where they meet. My intention is to create pages of a universal geography."
Eugenie received a B.A. with honors from Northwestern University and her work has been exhibited across the country. She was featured in the June 2006 issue of Southwest Art. Her work is in the collections of Westinghouse Corporation, Amoco Corporation and Arthur Andersen Company, among others. Eugenie resides in Niles, Michigan
